One person was declared dead at the scene and the other was taken to a hospital for treatment with a suspect arrested at the scene and taken to the Doraville police station for questioning

A Fulton County deputy was injured in a shooting in southwest Atlanta on Monday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office.

“Shortly after being waved down, Lt. (Gerald) Johnson approached an encounter with a perpetrator who had an assault-type rifle. They exchanged gunfire,” Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat told C hannel 2’s Brittany Kleinpeter during a Monday night news conference. The gunman and Johnson were both injured. The shooter later died from their injuries.
