Red Sox rookie Hunter Dobbins made some headlines prior to his first career start against the Yankees last week when he said he’d rather retire than pitch for New York.

Red Sox pitcher Hunter Dobbins has some explaining to do, according to the New York Post. Dobbins created a stir over the weekend when he made his dislike of the Yankees organization crystal clear, stemming from his father's brief career with New York.

But The Post’s Joel Sherman reported that Lance Dobbins does not appear as a Yankees draft pick for any season on Baseball Reference and that Yankees general manager Brian Cashman — who has been with the organization since 1986 — has no recollection of the Yankees ever drafting a Lance Dobbins.
