Following the massive postgame brawl between Howard University and North Carolina Central University on Friday evening, the MEAC has announced suspensions for 36 players involved in the melee as well as one coach.

With the win, NCCU improved to 7-3 overall and 3-1 in MEAC play. However, for the Eagles to claim the MEAC title, South Carolina State must lose its final two games against Morgan State and Norfolk State. A South Carolina State win on Saturday would eliminate NCCU from championship contention and secure the Celebration Bowl bid for the Bulldogs.

The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced Monday night that 36 student athletes and an assistant coach are now suspended following a postgame brawl at the North Carolina Central University football game on Friday night.

A coach and 36 players were suspended after a brawl erupted on the football field following a Friday game between Howard University and North Carolina Central University. According to ABC11, NCCU had 19 players and an assistant coach suspended,

"We're trying to fight to get to the playoffs, and now we got some guys suspended over nonsense," NCCU head coach Trei Oliver said Monday.
