In Fira, Santorini’s main town, local authorities have set up gathering points for residents though no evacuation orders are in place right now. However, it’s been agreed by seismologists that these quakes could be an indicator of an impending seismic event.

Families boarded ferries and extra flights were laid on to help people leave Santorini on Monday as dozens of tremors shook the Greek island for a fourth day.

Emergency services were deployed in readiness and schools were closed after more than 200 temblors struck in the Aegean, near Santorini, within 48 hours.

The strongest earthquake recorded was magnitude 4.6 at 3:55 p.m. Sunday, at a depth of 14 kilometers (9 miles), the Athens Geodynamic Institute said.
