Malta: Scenic, historic and intriguing - Rick Steves Travel Forum
May 14, 2023 · Malta has been on my destination wish list for several years and I finally managed to get there in early May. Scenic views and historical beauty absolutely everywhere! We decided to stay in Valletta and it was a very good choice. We spent four nights and three days in Malta, and that was fine.

Jan 19, 2017 · Malta in winter wouldn't be my choice. I'd go to Sicily, with maybe a few days in Malta (flying in/out). Food: if it comes from the sea, it will probably be fresh and good. Malta grows a lot of produce, so you'll probably get good fresh veggies, but not much else. I thought the wine was mediocre. There are lots of attractions to fill a week or ...
Your impressions of Malta? - Rick Steves Travel Forum
Jan 14, 2022 · I know Malta gets cruise ships, lots of Brits, and other sun-seekers. It has a rich, long, complicated history (/understatement), and given all that (plus its geography) I expect to find an interesting mix of ethnic and cultural influences, lots of history, architecture, a beach or two (though we may not be swimming in October), and some ...

Jan 19, 2025 · We spent about 2 weeks in Malta in January right before the pandemic. We thought January was a nice time to visit. We were primarily interested in history and taking long walks (the tourist office a carious walks over Malta and Gozo). We used public transportation to get around. Very nice, relaxing trip.
Malta recommendations - Rick Steves Travel Forum
Feb 20, 2023 · I spend six days in Malta this past summer, and had a car for three of them. I would highly recommend driving to the Blue Grotto and taking the boat ride there. Hagar Qim is right nearby and easy to pair with the Blue Grotto. Other sights around Malta that are interesting include the Dingli Cliffs, Mosta Rotunda, Migra I-Ferha, and Fomm ir-Rih.

Sicily - Malta - Rick Steves Travel Forum
Jun 7, 2021 · After 5 or so weeks in Italy, I think that Malta would be an interesting change of pace. We spend 18 nights in Malta in January/early February 2020 and used the Brandt guidebook for planning. Malta is spread out and it tough for us to decide where to stay. Public transportation is good and you can get almost anywhere on bus or ferry.
Malta, worth doing? - Rick Steves Travel Forum
Nov 10, 2018 · Furthermore, one night in Malta won't allow you to see much at all. The transit time will be a total waste, and Pozzallo isn't very close to places you would typically choose to visit in Sicily, so you'll also be spending additional time getting to and from that ferry port. In mid-July Sicily (and I assume also Malta) will be very, very hot.
