The Smithsonian's National Zoo is home to more than 2,200 animals. Find out where to see your favorite animals, like Komodo dragons at Reptile Discovery Center or red pandas on Asia Trail.

The Zoo is open every day, except Dec. 25. Grounds Open: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; last admittance is at 3 p.m. Exhibit Buildings Open: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (winter) / 6 p.m. (summer).

Every Zoo visitor must have a free entry pass to come inside the Zoo. We recommend you book Entry Passes online ahead of your visit, but a limited number of walk-up entry passes are available each day at the pedestrian entrances to the Zoo.

Sep 1, 2023 · Right now, the Zoo's giant pandas are acclimating to their new habitat area at the Smithsonian's National Zoo. The Giant Panda Cam will launch in January 2025 when the bears make their public debut. In the meantime, watch a behind-the-scenes video of giant pandas Bao Li and Qing Bao playing with enrichment toys and exploring their habitats.
