EMR Metal Recycling said a lithium-ion battery that was "wrongly delivered" to the Camden shredding facility was likely the cause of a massive fire on Feb. 21.

EMR Recycling has been the scene of multiple fires over the years, with the last major one in 2022, putting it at odds with some neighbors and a local nonprofit.

Thick black smoke that could be seen for miles billows from a Camden junkyard. Fire crews continue to battle the massive fire that started hours ago. It's still burning at EMR Metal Recycling. Nearly 20 fire companies have been working to put this thing out for more than five hours now.
